Haydn’s Farewell Symphony offers a poignant nod to the departing year with its surprising and witty finale. Ravel’s Boléro begins with a simple theme, masterfully layering orchestral textures into a hypnotic, magnificent crescendo, in anticipation of an exciting new year.
