Sixty years at the top of the guitar world together, Sérgio and Odair Assad bring their
anniversary world tour to Hong Kong for an evening of unrivalled virtuosity and telepathic unity, where Brazilian folk, Latin, jazz and classical styles meet as one.
Winners of multiple Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards, the Brazilian masters have
collaborated with the greatest names in classical music, including Yo-Yo Ma, Gidon
Kremer and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Astor Piazzolla, renowned as “father of
new tango”, wrote works for them. The programme brings together their most iconic
repertoire, from Piazzolla’s mesmerising tango and Villa-Lobos’ Brazilian soul to
Sérgio Assad’s own celebrated compositions, alongside Brazilian treasures rarely
heard in Hong Kong. Local guzheng player Wan Xing joins in a special piece
inspired by the legend of Mulan, in celebration of China-Brazil Cultural Year
in 2026.
