Step into a playground—where no one asks how high you can climb, how fast you can run, or how far you can fly.
'Cross All Borders' proudly presents the multimedia music theatre 'Sonic Topographies' — a fusion of music, movement, and multimedia art that creates a boundary-breaking immersive experience. Inspired by the idea of a playground, this production redefines freedom and exploration. There are no standard answers here; only personal feelings and unique paths. On stage, performers of diverse backgrounds and abilities co-create side by side. No one is merely a symbol; every individual presence is an indispensable part of the performance. You are not stepping into a purely observational performance, but rather a dynamic, live space of continuous creation and mutual response.
Artistic Director Keith Lam uses installations and visual projections to craft a fluid stage space, transforming the playground into a massive musical instrument. Physical bodies, visuals, and sounds are no longer presented as independent elements. Instead, they interact and co-create in real-time, continuously responding to the live rhythm and energy of the venue —allowing sound to be seen and turning the body into an instrument. Music Director Chris Cheung reshapes traditional folk music and Dishui Nanyin, weaving them together with original compositions. Through the interplay of acoustic instruments and electronic soundscapes, he explores the possibilities of cross-genre fusion with the erhu, constructing a boundless sonic landscape.
Step into 'Sonic Topographies', where sound, sight, and bodily perception awaken together. You don’t need to understand music. You don’t need to know how to dance. Just trust your body—and come play.
