The Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra's International Conducting Competition for Chinese Music aims to continually nurture outstanding Chinese music conductors. Since its inception, the competition has become a significant platform for young Chinese music conductors worldwide to showcase their talents. Now in its 49th season, the competition will hold its fifth edition in collaboration with the Wuxi National Orchestra, with the preliminary and semi-final rounds taking place in Wuxi. In addition to competing, contestants will have the opportunity to explore the rich traditional musical culture of the Jiangnan region. The semi-finals and finals will be held in Hong Kong, featuring a performance by the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra. In the final concert, the three finalists will each perform a designated repertoire, including representative works that blend traditional and modern styles, thereby showcasing their musical interpretation and conducting charisma.
